SYNOPSIS

Prithvi’s Dances tells the story of six professional women and young mothers who meet for dance practice at Sanggar Kinanti Sekar once a week for almost a year. They didn’t know each other before, but through dance, they not only found healthy new friends, but also a support system that helped them heal what they didn’t know before; the trauma and pain they felt as women in Indonesia’s modern-religious-patriarchal society. Together, they form Betari Paramastri, a dance group that symbolizes their journey and resilience. The film follows the young mothers as they prepare for their first public performance at Dara Setara, a festival initiated by renowned Yogyakarta rock band FTVLST for female audiences and fans.
